Ah, weekends

Is it just me or does anyone else hate weekends? Is it just my house that somehow becomes destroyed even after all of the tedious chores I did all week, and why don't I want to clean it? Surely we can't be the only household that is ripping each other's hair out (except Judd's of course) because we are stuck together for 60 hours strait. Don't get me wrong, I love my family, but for some reason there is no routine on Saturday or Sunday. What the heck is everyone else doing?!? How do you keep sane?? I've got to know!!

The elementary school is having a camp out this weekend with all of the dads and their kids. Unfortunate enough for Judd, I will be busy that night, so he is planning on taking all 3 kids by himself. He's not excited. However, since the school is right next door, he is trying to talk Madison into doing all of the festivities and then coming home to sleep for the night. She doesn't like this idea.

Madison "Please, please, please can we spend the night in the tent?!?"
Me "Its going to be like 100 degrees over night. It will be so much better to sleep in your own bed. You can play there all night and then come home. It will be fine."
Madison "I don't want to come home I want to camp"
Me "well, I'm not going to be here, so its not up to me. Its up to your dad"
Madison "Why would it be up to dad when you're the boss" (smart girl)
Me..... I had to think out this answer for a few moments "I am the boss when I'm home, but sometimes when I'm gone, its okay to let daddy be the boss."
She was satisfied with that answer.


Coulson turned 1 on Wednesday!
I can't believe how time has flown with this baby!
We didn't do anything super special, seeing as how he didn't even understand it was his birthday. We're going to have cake and ice cream this weekend.

On his birthday he decided to sleep in like a good boy. I asked Nolan if he wanted to come with me and sing happy Birthday to Coulson. So we sang our song and it was really sweet. Coulson was smiling and dancing to our song. When we finished the first thing Nolan said was "can he talk now?"
They must be excited for him to join in on the fighting.

YAY for new books

I just picked up my much awaited reserved books from the library and I'm so excited. I love living in mini fantasy worlds. It gets me away from the everyday. I wish I could say that I read biographies or something that could put into my brain a plethera of knowledge, but no, I love any type of fiction. Judd said that I must have the knowledge of someone with a masters degree from all of the books that I read. I just laughed at him. If he only knew my knowledge only consists of things that really have no bearing in life what-so-ever, besides my own personal gratification. But don't go telling him that I'm really not that smart. He'll never know. He stopped paying attention to what I read a few years ago. Ignorance is bliss. ;)

I'm a mom

Today is a ponder day.

Who would've thought that this would be me 10 years ago?? Definitely not me. I had some plans you know. I wanted to go live in California, play volleyball on the beach and live in a tiny apartment. I thought that I would be working at some school being an athletic trainer. Sometimes I think I started with the family thing too soon. Sometimes I wonder what the heck I was thinking when I ran off and got married at 19. But today isn't one of those days.

Today I wake up and for some reason I just have this feeling like "I have the best life ever!"

Mother's Day always does this to me.

I feel that I would be totally ungrateful to complain about anything. I have healthy children, who may drive me crazy most of the time, but they are mine and I will always have that bond with them.

Sometimes I get mad that they cry and whine at me, but when they are hurt or scared they cry to me for comfort.

Sometimes I get annoyed because they are always under my feet, but I am the first person they come to to show me their accomplishments.

When the baby wakes me up in the middle of the night I get frustrated, but then I go to his room and rock him to sleep and I cherish every second because I know soon enough he will be too big.

At the end of a stressful day, I don't think "wow, I wish I didn't have to do this"

I think "I love those kids, especially when they are sleeping"

Every day that I don't love and appreciate them is a day that is lost and I can never get back. Its easy after they go to bed to think that I can do better the next day. I can get on the floor and play instead of cleaning. Or instead of being on the computer for an hour I can do a craft with them.

So here's to motherhood. All the regrets, whining, poop, bugers, crying, messes, diapers, dirt, sand, driving, Dr.'s appointments, cuts, bruises, fighting, fits, love, laughter, games, innocence, learning, snuggling, hugging and craziness. I wouldn't give it up for anything. Not even to play volleyball on the beach for the rest of my days. I love these people and through being a wife and mother, I've found out who I really am and what life is all about.

stuff

1. I'm sad to say that Kelli, my best neighbor in the whole world is moving to Buckeye. I am happy for them but I'm going to be really lonely. Sorry Kel don't feel bad. I've been spoiled for a year and a half and I'm kind of bratty.

2. My baby has had ear infections that won't go away. He's had them for about 4 weeks and as you can imagine its been really fun over here. I'm guessing I slept about 3 hours last night. Then I wake up to Madison and Nolan running around like little Indians. Nolan walks in the baby's room and wakes him up. Nolan throws fit because he doesn't get to go on a field trip with Madison. Baby crying because of ears. Madison fighting with me because she doesn't want to brush her hair before school. Nolan crying because he wants a candy bar. Keep in mind this all happens within the hours of 7 and 8 o'clock. At least I have homemade granola.

3. Somehow my doggie has turned into a horse. We've had him for 6 weeks and he's quadrupled in size. He weighs 25 lbs and he's only 12 weeks old. Here's some before and after pics

I must brag on my doggie though. He's soooo good. We've decided that he's been such a big boy that he doesn't need a kennel anymore so last night was his first night sleeping with out it. He slept all night and didn't have any accidents. However, he is still having his "male tendencies" and still only towards Nolan. I just think they've become such good friends and the dog want to be the boss to someone. He also does this to Nolan's clothes: This is his favorite toy. As you can see he has eaten out the eyes, ears and mane. Poor horse. He's also been my late night buddy. When Judd is off to school or quorum stuff we snuggle and he watches TV with me. I love him.

4.Now on to this "swine flu". I'm so sick of hearing about this. Seriously people, its the flu. Many people each year don't get flu vaccines and get the flu. This is no different. I know the media has to make a huge deal out of this just like they did with bird flu, West Nile, Africanized bees, Global Warming and contaminated spinach. its all a conspiracy from our liberal government. "Quick, everyone freak out and become even more dependant on us. we will fix this, don't do anything. stay locked up in your homes and let us magically take it away just like we did with El Nino. because in case you didn't know, we can also control the weather"

Well I know who the real swines are.

Come on...Wash your hands and sanitize stuff. Don't put your hands in your face and don't make out with people you don't know. You'll be fine. Don't let the tv convince you of some pandemic.

is it just me or is this hilarious?!

Here is a little excerpt from the book I'm reading "I can make you thin" I was laughing so hard. I'm not sure if it was because it was like 1 in the morning and I was really tired or because I do this with my kids and now feel like a total idiot. Let me know what you think.

Like most kids, I was told by my parents to eat everything on my plate because "there are starving children in India." Don't underestimate the subtle power of this guilt trip, especially if it was instilled at a formative age. Eventually , of course, I realized that it was a con. I used to say "how does me being overweight help the starving children? Shall I take a picture of myself fat and send it to them with a note saying 'at least you know the food isn't going to waste' "?
Let me put this one to rest once and for all---contrary to popular parental opinion, eating everything on your plate has been shown to do nothing to contribute to the well-being of starving children in Africa, India or China.

For some reason the kids are scared of the dog. He does have sharp teeth and he is a puppy, so he likes to chew on things...especially Nolan. Here is a synopsis of what goes on everyday.

Coulson Got His Helmet.

Here is my sweet little boy. He looks like a midget football player. Now everywhere we go, people are staring at him. Poor guy. At least we're doing it now. Could you imagine being a teenager walking around with a flat head... and with Judd's genes he would have had no hope hiding it either! I also shaved his head this morning because it was all sweaty and matted down. So I guess I'm traumatized. I can't kiss on my baby's head and he has no more hair! But he's finally crawling. I know, I know, he's going to be 1 next month and he just started crawling. Maybe that head had something to do with it.... but at least we are finally mobile!

Look What Came in the Mail!!

HAHAHAHAHA...I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am. I bought these tickets like a year ago, and its almost here. I started watching some video clips on youtube. Just thought I would share. Oh by the way, am I lame becuase I watched this video and was jumping around and crying!???...I knew it. Here is my little shout out video. Imagine me dancing and singing around the house while this is on!! YAY

Pipe Cleaner Fun

So... we were bored today.

Coulson wasn't too happy about it. Sorry if my pictures are a little shaky, but I was laughing so hard while I was taking these. All he wanted to do was chew on my Ipod but I kept decorating him with funny things.

Nothing else has been going on lately. We did decorate some eggs last night. That's about the extent of my Easter cheer. I don't like the "Easter" holiday... actually I should say, I don't like how its so commercialized. I've never told my kids that there is an Easter bunny or even given them Easter baskets. We just have a nice dinner and watch a video on the Resurrection. I don't feel the need to buy gifts for Easter. It seems like the world tries to make us think that you need to buy stuff on every holiday. How about doing something special and memorable instead?? Just a thought.
I do love spring time though. Its almost like New Year's but better. Everything is new in spring. Flowers, trees, baby birds that fall out of their nests all over my yard. It just all ties into the Resurrection (except for the dead birds)
This is the most wonderful time of the year, to me. I hope everyone has a great Easter and takes time to remember the real reason why we celebrate at this special time of year.
